Netstal - Dairy with a difference: high-quality injection-moulding machines

Netstal is providing a cost-efficient barrier preform for liquid dairy products (LDP) in PET bottles. In particular, its PRELACTIA barrier preform forms innovative bottle designs with a revolutionary shelf life of up to six months.

With PRELACTIA preforms, manufacturers of milk-based lifestyle, convenience and health products are presented with new possibilities and unique bottle designs that ensure they stand out at the point of sale.

A new kind of bottle

The preform consists of two precisely defined layers: a white exterior skin that reflects most of the incoming light and a grey interior layer that provides a highly effective light barrier through absorption.

The result is a PET bottle with a highly effective light barrier; 99.99% of visible light - 400-700nm - cannot reach the contents of the bottle, preserving its integrity. A PRELACTIA bottle is approximately 20% lighter than a comparable HDPE container and, because it is made of pure PET, it can easily be recycled after use.

Thanks to the injection-moulding process, the bottles feature a precisely defined thread. With a corresponding 38mm cap, the lid remains absolutely tight, even after having been opened several times, as opposed to HDPE.

High-performance and flexible

The PET-LINE 2C is a high-performance injection-moulding system for barrier applications and two-component preforms with decorative effects. The lateral injection unit can simply be deactivated, providing complete flexibility and, if necessary, it can also produce monolayer and standard preforms for water and carbonated soft drinks, with up to 72 cavities.
