Located in the heart of Europe, Crown Van Gelder (CVG) is a Dutch-based paper manufacturer with approximately 280 employees. Our company produces specialities for graphical and industrial applications in the wood-free uncoated and single-coated paper sector. We are larger than the small, specialized regional companies, but smaller than the large, international paper groups. Our size enables us to rapidly and flexibly anticipate customer demand and offer customers substantial added value. We focus on niches that do not attract our industry's major players, niches in which we can use our flexibility and convenient location in Western Europe to our advantage. Thanks to the new business development programme we have been executing for the last several years, we have a broad, modern product range that will increase our market shares in the niches high-speed inkjet, label and packaging.
CVG started developing paper products specifically for high-speed inkjet printing a decade ago. Today, high-speed inkjet printing is the fastest growing segment of the entire print production industry. With the Crown Letsgo inkjet range, CVG has gained a leading position in the field of high-speed inkjet printing, both in volume and in technology and knowledge. CVG is in direct contact with printers, working with them to get the right papers that are fit for purpose. We have intensive interaction with printers around Europe, finding new volume for the machines, helping with the sales side of these applications. This is an important link in the 'value chain', where end users such as publishers and corporate organizations are in dialogue with OEM manufacturers, paper companies and printers. CVG has a consistent product portfolio, including premium stock, silks and eco papers. These are used across transactional, promotional and publishing markets. The Crown Letsgo portfolio is the most extensive product range on the market, covering the entire spectrum of applications and technologies for your convenience.
It takes more than an average paper to succeed in this industry. Not only must the base or face paper be able to withstand extreme temperatures, it must also perform under demanding finishing processes such as lamination, metallising and coating - and do this consistently in custom made volumes. These are the requirements our clients demand and that CVG lives up to with every product we supply. We have a strategic focus on the label market with a range of high-quality technical papers. The service level and consistent high paper quality are of "award winning level". Thanks to our years of experience, CVG has good reason for calling itself the specialist in label paper. We have a large market share of manufacturers that produce label fronts and/or backs. The Crown Label portfolio is a very broad product range comprising both standard and customised products.
CVG has also developed a product range for the packaging market. We supply papers ('liners') that adhere to brown boxes to improve their appearance and printability. More 'refined' versions of these paper types are used to produce paper carrier bags - a growth market that is substituting the market for plastic bags - and in food applications. These are used to make sachets, flowpack or blockbottom pouches, corrugated boxes and flexible packaging for frozen confections. Furthermore, the benefits of the Crown Letsgo high-speed inkjet range - successfully sold in the graphic arts industry - are now being explored in the label and packaging area.
Working closely with the world's leading equipment manufacturers to make products that are accelerating the success of our clients is one of our main goals. To support printers and end customers in the emerging and fast-growing market of high-speed inkjet, CVG has launched three initiatives:
Let's Discover, Let's Develop, Let's Launch.
With these three initiatives CVG is able to synthesise the processes of product opportunity, formulation and testing, and going to market into a much shorter period of time . Before, it was a three-year process, but with this three-step approach the go-to-market is able to speed up. Six months is the goal. So if you see a business opportunity but you don't yet see the paper, let's make it happen. Let's talk today!
