International Paper is a global leader in the paper and packaging industry, with manufacturing operations in North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and North Africa. It offers consumers a wide range of solutions to help their packaging business be successful. As a leading supplier of consumer packaging board, it understands the needs for paperboard as well as for service - no matter which business you are in.
International Paper's new lightweight GC2 board Alaska Plus offers unparalleled benefits for the food, chocolate, beautycare and healthcare packaging segments. Its lighter weight allows savings on material cost and the environment. And Alaska Plus brings excellent production efficiencies as well as an industry-leading quality consistency.
Alaska Plus can be used in direct food contact in dry and fatty food segments, and is the ideal choice for food packaging thanks to its high stiffness, strength and durability. It is produced completely from virgin fibres to ensure purity and cleanliness of the material. Thanks to a unique coating quality, the surface of the board provides a great background for eye-catching printing and finishing elements, and makes your packaging stand out on the shelf.
Alaska Plus comes in nine basis weights: 190, 205, 220, 235, 255, 270, 280, 305 and 330g/m². The low basis weight of 190g/m² is ideal as a liner material to add eye-catching visual characteristics on corrugated packaging or POS elements as an example. The higher basis weights are designed for various types of packaging where durability of the packaging, product protection in transport as
well as on the shelf, and production efficiencies are key requirements next to the advantages offered by its lighter weight.
With Alaska Plus, you can produce more packaging from a ton of board. Its lighter weight offers not just economic benefits, but Alaska Plus is also lighter on the environment. Fewer resources are used in its production; it is lighter to transport and saves on packaging waste. International Paper use fibres sourced only from sustainably managed forests that are allowed to grow naturally for future generations, and Alaska Plus is available as FSC or PEFC certified.
Alaska Plus is produced at a high and consistent level of quality at the International Paper Kwidzyn mill in Poland. The industry-leading quality consistency ensures that all boxes have the same characteristics from one production run after the other. At the same time, Alaska Plus brings outstanding efficiencies in packaging production and packing lines, leading to less waste and less time being used, without compromising any of the packaging quality.
As the demand for eco-friendly, yet efficient packaging is growing, International Paper responds with a pioneering technology to produce Alaska Plus and offers fast, flexible services to help you meet the challenges of today's fast-moving packaging environment.
