SP Group is a group of companies dedicated to manufacture flexible and rigid film (laminates and complexes) for food packaging for large-scale consumption throughout Europe. They work with a range of solutions that are used by their clients for the industrial packaging.
Their films are used to produce a wide variety of packaging formats. Among their main products, it can be highlight flowpack packaging, vertical pouches and stand-up pouches. Another of their main activities is the extrusion or manufacture of rigid and semi-rigid films for thermoformed packaging. These films are used for trays and vacuum-packing formats.
The four printing techniques they currently have available (Offset, Digital, Flexography and Rotogravure) complete their packaging offer, providing a unique level of diversity that allows them to adapt their products to the specific needs of each client.
For SP Group, the major goals are related to sustainability:
The company has also been making improvements when it comes to some of its other key objectives, including downgauging and incorporating recovered material from the post-industrial recycling process.
RECYCLABLE MATERIAL FOR FMCGs
PE HB ECO is their newest 100% recyclable* material. It is a mono-polyethylene structure available with high barrier properties, which means it can replace most of non-recyclable conventional films.
Among the features of this new recyclable PE HB ECO material, they can highlight its high-barrier properties, and its capacity to withstand heat treatments such as pasteurisation, hot-fill and microwaving processes. It is also remarkable its high degree of transparency. Regarding the application, this material can be used for stand-up pouches, plain pouches, pillow bags and HFFS or VFFS processes. It is suitable for all the applications that require high-barrier to oxigen, for products such as sauces, liquids, pre-cooked meals, superfoods and nuts, among others.
This material is also available without barrier to oxygen (PE ECO), also 100% recyclable* structure.
* ISO 18604 and UNE 13688 standard
rPET, 100% RECYCLED MATERIAL.
The new rPET is a thermoformable monolayer PET laminate, made from 100% recycled material. It has an excellent degree of transparency, a good oxygen and water-vapour barrier, and it is fully approved for food use, being certified by ESFA standard No. 2017/4843. This makes it ideal for packaging meat products, pre-prepared meals, desserts, biscuits and salads, among others. It also has excellent mechanical properties that make it tough and impact-resistant.
100% BIODEGRADABLE PACKAGING
BIO FVSOL is totally biodegradable, compostable and bio-based, to comply with the EN 13432 standard. BIO FVSOL 60 is a film with a base of PLA (polylactic acid) and PVOH (polyvinyl alcohol), both of which are biodegradable. This new material main characteristic is the high-barrier that condense maximum protection in minimum thickness and are entirely suitable for food use.
