Star of the show

At Labelexpo 2019 in Brussels, Belgium, on 24-28 September and FachPack in Nuremburg, Germany, on 24-26 September, UNIVACCO will launch a new metallic foil guide for hot-stamping foil applications. The new foil guide comes up with an improved technical overview and information about different grades manufactured, and some new colour shades are also included.

UNIVACCO places a deep importance on the environmental protection and reduction of direct and indirect greenhouse emissions, as well as research and development in recycling possibilities for foil-enhanced products and for foil that is in use already.

Since 2010, UNIVACCO has undertaken the principle of 'saving energy and reducing CO2 emissions through intelligent manufacturing' as a direction for development, and has been devoted to the development of green energy products. It is believed that promoting various green production strategies can increase the efficiency of the use of raw materials while also helping develop intelligent production, thereby enhancing UNIVACCO's sustainable competitiveness.

As for the development of green energy products and green production strategies, the company also actively promotes environmentally friendly formulas and coating techniques, introduced high-solid coating techniques, and reduced the use of volatile organic solvents (VOCs). In recent years, UNIVACCO also actively developed water-based coating systems and conducted production development using environmentally friendly solvent systems.

Crackdown on emissions

Furthermore, the company recycles organic solvents from existing products and successfully applies such recycled solvents onto new products. Through this, it has achieved a reduction of energy and CO2 emissions of up to 337t of CO2 per year from the reduction of procured solvents. Coupled with the help of regenerative thermal oxidisers (RTO) in recycling burning, production of VOC emission has been greatly reduced, which also helps save energy and reduce CO2 emissions.

To underscore all of the actions and measures taken on green and sustainable strategies on the production site, UNIVACCO is investing heavily in Waalwijk, the Netherlands, in a new eco-friendly building. The new site will be equipped with investments in state-of-theart extra-large-format slitting machines, new operating software and larger warehouse capacity, including improved logistic facilities with even faster processing to ensure the rapid availability of the company's stamping foil range.
