Die-cutting specialist Berhalter will be presenting unique technology for embossing lids on the sealing rim area at Interpack in May. The Swiss firm introduces its latest generation of high-performance machinery ahead of the Düsseldorf show.
The SMARTembosser is the logical evolution for pre-cut lids. This patented system is unique and offers fantastic embossing opportunities for rims and logos, as well as de-embossing for pre-cut units. It makes every lid special and gives additional technical advantages.
Rim embossing (which only applies to the sealing rim area) allows lids to shine more brightly and greatly enhances the clarity of colour edges. It enables the printing of considerably smaller, yet still clearly legible lettering, which is important for product placement, as well as for the facts required under food regulations. Last, but not least, the SMARTembosser can enhance the productivity of filling and sealing machines.
Logo embossing and de-embossing gives customers the opportunity to produce non-printed, pre-cut lids that highlight a logo, sign or writing.
Using the patented Berhalter SMARTembosser technology, lids can be printed with intense colour, and more space for graphics and product information can be achieved; pre-cut lids never looked so brilliant.
Die-cutting may be just one piece in a product's supply chain, but is nonetheless critical to its success. The technology you choose decides the appearance, sustainability and quality of an item, as well its efficiency.
Over the last few years, Berhalter has reacted continuously and highly flexibly to increasing market demands and has introduced a number of innovations to the market.
Alongside its capacity for constant innovation, the Swiss company is synonymous with the production of efficient, customer-oriented die-cutting systems. It specialises in the manufacturing of user-friendly, but highly productive, machines.
This applies to flat-packaged lids in aluminium or polyester, as seen on Nestlé yoghurt, as well as those featuring relief impressions, such as those on Philadelphia cheese spread.
Deep-drawn aluminium lids (for example, as used on Sheba or Cesar pet food containers) enhance the extensive range of product opportunities.
Berhalter's die-cutting machines can also be used to produce paper labels (for beer bottles, say), as well as catering for IML applications, such as those on Starbucks coffee cups, and the company is uniquely able supply die-cutting machines and tools according to specific market demands.
