With more than 300 years' industry experience and expertise, Sappi is highly committed to its packaging and speciality paper business and is one of the leading companies in the packaging sector.
Sappi's Packaging and Speciality Papers business offers products and solutions in seven different segments: flexible packaging with coated and uncoated paper for food and non-food applications, such as sachets, pouches and wrappers; label papers for pressure sensitive and wet adhesive applications; functional papers that offer highly efficient paper-based solutions with integrated functionality, for example, paper with mineral oil barrier; containerboard such as corrugated and solid boards to fluting and liner products; rigid packaging, such as solid bleached board for luxury packaging and graphic applications; release liner with silicon base papers for self-adhesive applications; and last but not least, technical papers for interleaving and thermal coating.
Sappi Packaging and Speciality Papers is based on four pillars which blend together to drive its corporate culture. This fundamental strategy means being a sustainable partner with premium product quality and service; second, being an innovative packaging company that is seen, not just as a substrate supplier; third, having an excellent end-user network that both drives its product development strategies and ensures a growing revenue base; and fourth, performing as a strategic alliance partner with a global footprint and size to make a difference in the industry.
Sappi is dedicated to supporting its customers in growing both top and bottom lines through five operational pillars of reliability, global availability, a variety of sustainable solutions, close links with customers and stakeholders, and full commitment to its business and that of Sappi's customers. The company has also developed a special network with leading brand owners and it's through these close relationships that Sappi has built a sound understanding of trends and future requirements for the markets in which it operates.
The company goal is to reduce packaging costs without compromising product protection - at the same time offering packaging materials that are environmentally sustainable. Sappi understands the importance of ensuring legal compliance and safety for food packaging while reducing waste both in the paper manufacturing process and the package converting process. This ultimately reduces the burden on the environment caused by plastic packaging materials.
