SIG Combibloc’s filling machine installed at Vigor’s new dairy plant in Brazil

Commissioned in June 2016, the $40.5m plant can process one million liters of milk per day into yoghurt, UHT milk products and products for the food service industry.

The SIG Combibloc’s filling machine at the facility is used to fill UHT milk, cooking cream and a range of cream products in combiblocMidi 1,000ml aseptic carton packs.

Vigor industrial manager Paulo Botelho said: “The packaging solutions from SIG Combibloc offer precisely the high level of technology and automation for which we strive, and which we require particularly for the equipment of our new plant”.

SIG said that the CFA 812 machine is designed to fill combibloc and combifit carton packs in several different volumes of different products including products with varying consistency and viscosity.

The filling machine is fully operational at the site and produces with a capacity utilization rate of 95%.

SIG Combibloc Brazil project manager Sebastião Batista Neto said: “In close cooperation between the technical department of Vigor and ours, we’ve managed to develop a compact line configuration that also makes maintenance and servicing easy.

“The reliable, energyefficient filling machine with low wastage rates fully meet Vigor’s demanding standards in terms of sustainability.”

Vigor operates 16 production plants in Brazil, including the new plant in Rio de Janeiro state. The site has created 130 new jobs.

The new facility is expected to create to a total of 300 jobs within the next years upon further expansion of the production capacity.

SIG Combibloc is engaged in supplying carton packaging and filling machines for customers in beverages and food industry.
