TRM implements phase one of £8 million investment

3 June 2014

As phase one a £8 million investment, independent food and drink packaging manufacturer TRM Packaging has announced a £1 million upgrade to its corrugator.

TRM's on-site BHS corrugator will see its width increased from 2.5 to 2.8m, along with the installation of latest generation reel stands and splicers, and the provision for the future production of F flute microflute.

Enhancing the capabilities of the corrugator will increase the output capacity of TRM's factory, provide more flexibility for customers and allow the use of lighter and new technology papers.

The future capability to run F flute complements the company's £3.2 million investment in a seven-colour Gopfert High Quality Print press in 2013 and will enhance the print results being achieved on the printer.

Production director at TRM, Mike Introna, said: "The investment will allow us to further help our customers to lightweight their packaging and thus deliver environmental and commercial benefits, while improving the operational efficiency of the factory.

"Furthermore, the capability to produce F flute microflute board with high-quality print also aligns well with the increasing demand from our customers for smaller RRP and counter top display packs.

"Upgrading this machinery underlines TRM's commitment to delivering the very best quality products to both existing and potential clients."
